GOOD SHEPHERD HOSPICE CALENDAR OF EVENTS

“HEARTS FOR HOSPICE” NOVEMBER 13 GALA
Good Shepherd Hospice, a member of Catholic Health Services of Long Island, invites the Long Island community to attend Hearts for Hospice, a gala dinner-dance, Thursday, November 13, at the Hilton Long Island in Melville. The event begins at 7:00 pm with a cocktail hour, followed by a buffet dinner and dancing.

Hearts for Hospice will benefit the Good Shepherd Hospice Inpatient Center at Port Jefferson, scheduled to open this fall. Designed with the look and feel of a home, the Center will provide state-of-the-art, short-term hospice and palliative care to terminally ill individuals requiring more skilled care than can be given in a home setting.

At the event Good Shepherd Hospice will honor: Peter J. Costigan, Esq.; East End Interiors, Inc., a St. James interior design firm; and Long Island Home Builders Care, Inc., a charitable arm of the Long Island Builders Institute. “All of our honorees have been extremely supportive in making the Inpatient Center a reality. We are delighted to pay tribute to them for their efforts,” said Good Shepherd Hospice President & CEO Marianne Gillan.

The $5 million renovation of an 18,856-square-foot building, located on the campus of St. Charles Hospital, began more than a year ago. When completed, it will be one of the largest freestanding hospice inpatient centers in New York State and the only one on Long Island located on a hospital campus. Gillan added, “The Inpatient Center will offer quality of life to patients and lessen the stresses they, their caregivers and families face during their difficult journey.”
